Making Sense of Your Hearing Loss - The Audiology Department offers a series of four one-hour classes for patients and family in a group setting. These classes are designed to provide useful information about hearing aids, communication, and the problems people with permanent hearing loss face in their everyday life.
 
 

Diagnostic Evaluations to determine the type and degree of hearing loss, if present

Evaluation of the communication needs of individuals with hearing loss

Hearing aid dispensing services

Custom earmolds for hearing aids, swim plugs, noise protection, musician's plugs, and other custom applications

Individual and group rehabilitation for individuals with hearing aids

Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) evaluations for assessment of hearing in infants and for neurological evaluation of the auditory system.

Upon referral, evaluation of the balance system using electronystagmography

Special testing to assist in the interdisciplinary evaluation of individuals with special needs or multiple communication difficulties

Cochlear Implant Program - The Dallas Cochlear Implant Program is a cooperative effort between the Callier Center, The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and Children's Medical Center of Dallas. This team of professionals provides evaluation of prospective candidates, implantation, device fitting and rehabilitation.

Central auditory processing evaluation

Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Clinic - Evaluation of tinnitus and hyperacusis leading to recommendations for treatment are offered through this clinic. Please see the separate link in the Callier Center Website for more information

Assistive Device Center - Located off the lobby at the Callier Center, the Assistive Device Center provides free demonstration of personal communicators, telephone and television amplification aids, and alerting devices to ease the burden of hearing loss in everyday life.

Educational evaluation

Spanish- A complete range of services delivered by audiologists who speak Spanish

Child Study Evaluations - Children with communication deficits of unknown cause may be evaluated by our Child Study Team. An audiologist, a speech-language pathologist and a psychologist team to do a comprehensive assessment of young children to determine why communication impairment exists, and to make appropriate therapeutic and educational recommendations

Central Auditory Processing Evaluation - Children with normal hearing sensitivity who are having difficulty in school and other learning situations can be evaluated by the Callier Center Auditory Processing Team. The team consists of an audiologist, speech-language pathologist and psychologist. Evaluation centers on auditory skills, language skills, and attention skills.
