    articulation and voice disorders

A few of the many unique speech/language programs we provide include the following:

Aphasia Groups are comprised of adults who demonstrate speech and language problems due to stroke. These adults attend weekly group sessions that focus on bridging the gap between communicating in therapy settings and communicating in real-life situations.

Communication Learning Program provides speech, language and cognitive services to survivors of stroke and traumatic brain injury. (Callier Richardson Facility)

Early Class see more info - The Early CLASS is a classroom-based program for young children 3-5 years of age exhibiting problems with social-communication and social relationships. Our Classroom uses developmentally appropriate intervention and follows the SCERTS Model (Prizant, Wetherby, Rubin, Rydell, Laurent, and Quinn, 2003), a family-centered, social-pragmatic approach for enhancing language, communication, and social relatedness.

The Early CLASS emphasizes the importance of building on the child's current level of functioning rather than on behaviors or skills that are missing from the child's repertoire. We emphasize social-communicative interactions with a variety of partners (children and adults). Opportunities for reciprocal communication are provided for each child within the ongoing context of the classroom using play routines, conversation time, and cooperative group activities. In this way communication will occur within naturalistic but motivating contexts.

Children attend the Early CLASS Monday-Friday mornings from 9:00 - 11:30 a.m. Applications will be considered on a first-serve basis.

Out and About (Fall Session Available) is a social skills group program for 8 - 12 year olds to focus on generalizing language and pragmatic skills into group and community settings. This program is a comprehensive communication experience for children in grades 3 through 6 who are working on improving their social skills. This program combines small and large group therapy activities in a fun atmosphere where children learn strategies to improve their pragmatic language abilities. By combining structured language-based activities with real life "out of the classroom" experience, "Out and About" provides opportunities for children to generalize language and pragmatic skills to a variety of communicative partners and settings. Various outings and other activities are planned to promote social abilities in children. (Callier Richardson)
